The Bellagio paved the way for a modern breed of Las Vegas hotel that relies less on a heavy theme and more on refinement and luxury.
Built in 1998 at the site of the demolished Dunes Hotel and Casino, the Bellagio features 3,933 rooms and suites in two towers. The original tower offers old-world elegance with luxurious fabrics and Italian marble. The spa tower, built in 2004, offers an understated elegance with an emphasis on health. Guests staying in the spa tower can bypass the casino to get to their rooms. Suites with soaking tubs, spa showers, and quick access to a modernized spa are also features of the spa tower. Rooms in both towers offer views of Lago di Como, the magnificent eight-acre lake that is the signature not only of the Bellagio, but of modern Las Vegas as well. This man-made lake features a choreographed water show set to lights and music several times a day.
The spacious and airy reception area features a soaring eighteen-foot ceiling festooned with over 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers created by famed artist Dale Chihuly. Adjacent to the reception area are the conservatory and botanical gardens. This area is approximately 13,500 square feet and features gazebos, bridges, ponds, and a 100-year old fountain. The theme is changed five times a year, and the flowers are changed every two weeks, year round.
The Bellagio's Mediterranean-garden pool area features six swimming pools--three with impressive fountains. Two of the pools are open year round. Guests can rent poolside cabanas that are equipped with television, refrigerators, sinks, dining areas, lounge chairs, misting systems, and ceiling fans.
The fourteen restaurants of the Bellagio combine a mix of fine and casual dining. Restaurants include Le Cirque, Prime Steakhouse, Michael Mina, Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant and Bar, and Picasso, the Bellagio's lakeside restaurant features original Picasso paintings and a fountain view. The famous Bellagio buffet offers a Sunday champagne brunch.
The 65,000-square-foot health club and spa has recently undergone a major renovation and offers a Zen-like experience. The spa is outfitted with travertine marble, granite, rich woods, water features, and aqua glass. There are 54 treatment rooms along with steam rooms, spa tubs, and saunas. The fitness center offers state-of-the-art exercise equipment and Pilates and yoga. Attendants provide towels, drinks, and light snacks.
No modern Las Vegas resort would be complete without a shopping area, and the Bellagio is no exception. Via Bellagio offers many of the finest shops in the world including Chanel, Hermès, Gucci, Prada, and Tiffany.
The elegantly-appointed casino area boasts canopied ceilings and is arranged for optimal traffic flow. The casino offers a sports and race book, table games, a large poker room, a Baccarat room, slot machines, and video poker. A high-tech ventilation system keeps cigarette smoke and smell to a minimum.
The entertainment doesn't end with shopping, gambling, and eating. For art lovers, there's the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, featuring works on loan by some of the most celebrated artists in history. The Bellagio is also home to the Cirque du Soleil show O, which features a 1.5 million-gallon pool as its centerpiece.
The Bellagio has earned a reputation as a luxurious oasis in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, and with good reason. This resort and casino offers all the amenities a Las Vegas visitor expects with the luxury a discerning traveler demands.
