Jackson's Physician Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician treating Michael Jackson at the time of his death, was finally and officially charged with involuntary manslaughter today in the death of Jackson. The California medical board acted swiftly to prevent Dr, Murray from practicing medicine in California. It takes awhile to yank someone’s medical license, so the Medical Board of California filed documents asking the court to suspend his license as a condition of his bail. The judge did order Dr. Murray not to administer anesthesia in California, but let’s keep in mind that Dr. Murray is also licensed to practice medicine in Nevada. As a matter of fact, he was running a medical clinic in Las Vegas when he became Michael Jackson’s private physician in anticipation for Michael’s show in London. It's unclear what this means as far as him practicing medicine in Nevada.

Officials found 11 vials of propofol, a powerful anesthesia used in hospitals for surgical patients, in Jackson’s home. Dr. Murray is believed to have administered the drug to Jackson shortly before his death, ultimately causing his death.

At today’s arraignment, Dr. Murray pleaded not guilty. He was taken into custody for booking and bail was set at $75k. Murray also had to surrender his passport. In perhaps the understatement of the year, the judge told Dr. Murray, “I do not want you sedating people.” Ya think so, Judge?
