Joan Rivers Fashion Police

Joan Rivers might be older, but she’s not losing her acerbic wit or penchant for calling celebrities out on the carpet—the red carpet, that is.

Joan wasn’t on the red carpet this year, but that didn’t keep her from delivering her outfit critiques and zingers to the E! Entertainment audience as part of the “Fashion Police.” She’s been known for her red carpet commentary since 1996, left E! in 2004, and has returned for the latest awards season, capped off by the Academy Awards.

If the Oscars are the Superbowl of the entertainment world, then Joan Rivers is Howard Cosell—often putting her foot in her mouth but never at a loss for words, and an expert in her field.

She said she actually likes being off the red carpet and in the relative safety of the E! studios, where she can deliver her zingers without having to face those committing fashion crimes on the red carpet.

For the 2010 Academy Awards “Fashion Police” shows, she was joined by deputies Khloe Kardashian, Jay Manuel, and Guiliana Rancic. “She is our Simon Cowell: she says what everyone’s thinking, only she says it louder, funnier and has better style,” said Kevin MacLellan, president of production for E!

Joan Rivers comes to Las Vegas for several shows in April.
