Michael Jackson's Physician to Surrender to LAPD on Monday

It is being reported that former Las Vegas doctor Conrad Murray will surrender to Los Angeles police on Monday in relation to his alleged involvement in the death of Michael Jackson. By voluntarily surrendering to police, Dr. Murray will avoid being arrested and paraded in front of the press in a “perp walk.” TMZ is reporting that his arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 pm on Monday, at which time he’ll immediately post bail and avoid spending any time in jail. TMZ is also reporting that Dr. Murray was originally supposed to surrender today, but bickering between the LAPD and the LA D.A.’s on how things should be handled derailed surrender plans until Monday. A press release was also scheduled for today but canceled at the last minute.

It is expected that Dr. Murray will be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson on June 25 of last year. Dr. Murray ran a medical clinic in Las Vegas before coming on as Michael’s full-time physician. Jackson died from “acute propofol intoxication.” Propofol is a drug used during surgery, but it is believed that Dr. Murray was administering it to Jackson as a sleep aid. Jackson suffered from horrible insomnia.
