Rain Pays Tribute to DJ AM
Rain nightclub at the Palms was the scene of a heartfelt tribute to Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM. DJ AM was a prolific and well-known DJ not only in Las Vegas, but in Los Angeles, New York, and all over the world. He survived a horrific plane crash less than a year ago only to die of a reported drug overdose on September 28 in his New York apartment.
The Palms dimmed the P, the l, and the S on its sign so it spelled out "AM."The Rain tribute took place only a day after DJ AM's death. He was resident DJ at the trendy nightclub where he hosted "AM Fridays." Staff of Rain wore DJ AM t-shirts and DJ R.O.B., who usually opened for DJ AM, said a few words and asked for a minute of silence at midnight. "I'll Be Missing You" by P. Diddy was played as a photo montage of DJ AM was played on all the screens in the club.
DJ AM was at one time engaged to Nicole Ritchie and had survived a plane crash with Travis Barker of Blink 182 nearly a year ago. He was extremely distraught that four other people died in the crash and seemed at times to suffer from survivor's guilt. He had battle a drug addiction on and off for several years. He was 36 years old.
