The creators of The Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas show LOVE were able to visualize an entire Las Vegas show based on the music and life of The Beatles. George Harrison was actually the driving force of LOVE in the beginning stages along with Guy LaLiberte of Cirque du Soleil. After Harrison’s death, his wife Olivia picked up the show baton and, along with the surviving Beatles and family members, ran with it. The result is a Las Vegas show that is a journey through time and space, accompanied by some of the most memorable and meaningful music in history. Ticket holders will experience a Las Vegas show that combines the music of yesteryear with the youthful energy of today. The theater that once housed the Sigfried and Roy show at the Mirage is now home to The Beatles LOVE. The theater and lobby area was entirely revamped for LOVE. As show ticket holders make their way from the lobby to the theater, they are met with silhouettes of The Beatles and a gigantic British flag on the ceiling. The theater is in the round, offering a 360 degree view of the show. Beatles fans will enjoy this show, but it’s not necessary to be a Beatles fan or even remember the 1960s or 1970s to appreciate the manner in which the Beatles songs have been interpreted by Cirque du Soleil for a Las Vegas stage. LOVE would not be possible without the music and images of The Beatles. The show features digitalized original recordings of The Beatles throughout, with speakers in every one of the seats. A state of the art video system includes 28 projectors and two 20-feet high and 200-feet long screens. Huge screens flash scenes from John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s lives as music icons and men who changed the course of history with their music. And of course there’s the Cirque du Soleil performance standard that brings an unparalleled energy to the show. The trampoline act incorporates an iconic red British phone booth and a vertical trampoline that literally puts a new slant on trampoline stunts. There’s also a bungee act and a breathtaking inline skating segment to the tune of “Help.” While there are overreaching themes in the show, each individual song is a story within the story. An ethereal dancer bathed in a blue-white light dances to Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” in one of the most poignant moments in the show. Unlike other Cirque du Soleil productions, there’s more of an emphasis on dance in LOVE. While there are the stunts that make a Cirque show so unique, they are not the main focal point of the show. The 90-minute Love Cirque du Soleil show at the Mirage is an unforgettable tour through the Beatles music and sensibility.
